From the heart of rural England
My husband and I purchased a smallholding in Shropshire after falling in love with it (Middle England as we like to call it) in 2015. It was a tiny two bed cottage with rats in the thatch. It has taken us two years to complete the renovation and I feel we have aged 10 years in this time!!
Part of the property forms a beautiful deciduous woodland and orchard and we wanted to use the woodland in some way to help us make a living. So in 2017 I finally took the plunge and gave up my office job and set up my own business making and selling bespoke wooden gifts.
I have a love of wood and woodlands which I gained from my Dad.
I made myself a coat and wellie rack with our names on and had such a good response from friends and family that I decided to make a business of it. I have my own workshop in the garden and I'm waiting for your order to come in. I just love working in my new workshop watching my horses in the fields and now trying to entertain my new Jack Russell puppy at the same time.
I source my wood either from our own sustainable woodland or a nearby wood yard (2 miles away). I use naturally seasoned oak either air dried or kiln dried. For indoor products I use Kiln dried to stop shrinkage and cupping in the warm.
Hoping to hear from you soon Julie
